14 end of camp1

What a bittersweet ending we have each summer on our last day of camp. This year seemed especially poignant. Tears flowed. Hugs abounded. We closed out the day with our long-standing traditions of Spirit Awards, Counselor Talent Show, and the Grecian Urn. We even squeezed in a counselor hunt and one last cannon at Closing Exercises.

The bonds campers and counselors made during the summer are tangible. The magic of camp is everywhere and everyone lingers, trying to savor one last moment together.

Camp is such a special experience. Intense in its own way, yet removed from the academic pressures of the school year. A chance for campers and counselors alike to be themselves, experience nature firsthand, develop new skills, renew old friendships, and make new friends. In the intensity of camp comes growth in social skills and self-confidence.

Watching campers grow and discover who they are is just as rewarding for camp staff as it is for their families.

We would like to share with you some of the wonderful feedback we have received:

“Just a quick note of thanks for another fantastic summer. Megan and Jack have truly grown to love Camp Sewataro more and more each year. The experiences that they have are so positive and so beneficial. For Jack especially, as he has always struggled socially during the school year. Sewataro’s supportive and inclusive environment enables him to connect and succeed and he comes home smiling each day. I can’t thank you enough.

For Megan, who completely blossomed there this summer – and now has her sights set on being a ‘lifer’ – and is already looking forward to training to be a CIT someday.

For me – I am so very grateful to you and your family for providing such an expertly-run and much-loved camp. The entire staff hums with professionalism and they make the impossible seem easy. The smiles that greeted me each day as they got off the bus to tell me of the day’s adventures are some of my most cherished. Thank you for making it all happen.”

We hope all of you had similar experiences with your children at Sewataro this summer. If you have not already completed our parent survey, you may still do so at the link below:

Our goal is to provide each child with a positive camp experience. We take your feedback seriously. We have already begun planning for next summer.

Please stay tuned for the opening of enrollment for Summer 2015.
We have received many requests for sign-ups for next summer already, so we plan on opening enrollment earlier this year.

All our best wishes for a happy and successful school year!!
