A weekly, half day (9:00 – 12:45) program
Eligibility: Children ages 3 – 4. (We also accept 5 year olds for the first week of the program).
The Sprouts program was created in 2010 with the intention of creating a preschool camp environment offering both Sewataro’s mission and superb facilities to these youngest of campers.
The Sprouts program refines the larger mission of Sewataro to meet the developmental needs of preschoolers. Children are engaged in activities developed to foster collaboration, creativity, team-building, and observation of the natural world around them. Programming is thoughtfully planned with the goal of providing a bridge for preschoolers into their first camp experience.
The outstanding outdoor surroundings combined with specialized camp programming allow children the gift of play and the space to deeply engage with each other and the outdoors. In turn, children develop self-confidence as they flourish with the success and joy found in their first camp venture.
Open House: There is a special Open House for Sprouts campers on Saturday, June 19th from 1:00 – 3:00pm. To practice social distancing, families will be invited to come at staggered, half hour increments. More information will be emailed to you as this event approaches.
2020 Head Counselor
Kristen is looking forward to her fourth summer at Sprouts. “My two boys, Noah and Jack have been attending Camp Sewataro since 2013, and my older daughter Lucy started as a Sprout in 2014. Beginning in 2017, my youngest Kate and I finally got a taste of the magic ourselves, and we’ve never looked back. Our family wouldn’t trade our summers at Sewataro for anything!"
Originally from Fairport, NY, Kristen did her undergraduate degree at Colby College, majoring in Sociology and Economics, and subsequently graduated from Boston College with a PhD in Sociology. Kristen attended many day camps as a child, including Girl Scout camp and various sports camps, and was a resident camp counselor at Cape Cod Sea Camps for two years (where she met her husband in 2002!).
Kristen loves spending her summers outside with her kids – running “Camp Drummey” ;-) – and was anxiously awaiting the chance to return to working as a camp counselor. Now she can’t wait to spend the summer of 2020 with your kids! She especially loves working with our preschool aged campers as they take in all the incredible Sewataro experiences for the first time, including the zipline at Fox Adventure, the Camper Car Wash, and the excitement of catching their first fish!
