Sam Rueter (CIT)

Sam is a second-year student at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, who’s back for his thirteenth summer at Sewataro (fifth on staff). This year, Sam will join the CIT team. “I know firsthand how transformative the CIT program can be for young people – going through the program myself five years ago helped me to find my voice and solidified my passion for working with children.” While away at school, Sam mentors local children and he’s also the sports columnist for his school newspaper, “The Scarlet & Black.” Sam is majoring in Psychology.

Sam hails from Winchester, MA, and is a graduate of the Cambridge School of Weston. He says the most rewarding part of being a counselor is witnessing campers’ growth. “Seeing shy campers break out of their shells and engage in activities…or seeing more talkative campers become adept listeners and tribe-mates…that’s what makes the summer worthwhile for me.” In his free time, Sam enjoys soccer, tennis, reading, and writing poetry.
