Monica has been involved with Sewataro in many different roles over the years. She was a camper, general counselor, and swim instructor during her childhood, high school, and college years. She then worked at Digital Equipment Corporation as an Operations Manager and Corporate Trainer. After having children, she came back to Sewataro in a supervisory role. This summer will be her thirty-first Sewataro summer. She and her boys spent eighteen summers together, as her boys grew from campers into counselors.
Monica made a career change into teaching, receiving the M.Ed. at University of Massachusetts Lowell. She has taught at both private and public schools in Groton, Westford, Lowell, and Pepperell, working with students from PK through middle school. In 2008, she received a CAES degree from Boston College as a Literacy/ Reading Specialist. Monica joined the year-round Sewataro team in 2012 and is responsible for managing all aspects of the program and staff.
In her free time, Monica is an avid sports fan, who loves to read and listen to music. Her husband is a business analysis consultant in the financial services industry and is a church organist, choir director, and keyboardist in a blues/rock band.
Monica’s favorite parts of camp are providing children the time and space to develop social skills, observing how children thrive in the camp environment and becoming part of the ever-expanding camp family every summer.
