Mike K.

Mike-kotin

Mike, (a.k.a. “Mr. K.” around Wayland Middle School, where he’s a beloved math teacher), is back for his sixth summer on staff! A “Mike” of all trades, he loves being an Extra so that he can experience – and assist with – (almost) every aspect of Camp Sewataro. Mike particularly enjoys this role, because he’s able to help campers of all ages, and at all activities. “Sewataro brings so much joy to me, my family, and all these amazing campers…I can’t wait to be able to help campers throughout the camp have the best possible experience!”

Mike hails from North Massapequa, NY, and is a 1993 graduate of Princeton University. He earned his Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Boston College. Mike also has his legal J.D. from SUNY Buffalo’s School of Law. Mike loves being outside, reading, listening to music, spending time with his family, building Legos with his two boys, and seeing his boys love Sewataro as much as he does! Mike has also taken up running, and has even recently ran nearly ten miles, which he calls his longest run in years. The modern definition of “Dad Strength,” Mike was 5th in his weight class for the state of NY while wrestling in high school, and was a member of the 1992 NCAA National Champion lacrosse team while at Princeton. In recent years Mike’s greatest Sewataro feats of strength have included twice defeating the infamous invisible bear in wrestlings matches, and anchoring multiple successful olympic tug of war teams.
