Dear Parents and Campers,

It’s hard to believe our first session of the summer has come to an end. It never ceases to amaze us (and delight us) when we witness children who, in many cases, come to camp as strangers or acquaintances and then leave as friends. There’s just something about the spirit of camp that lends itself so well to unique and lasting bonds of friendship. We saw it on last night’s Eagle section Overnight as tribes chatted over a barbecue dinner on the lawn, played Counselor Hide and Seek, swam, ate s’mores around the camp fire and laughed themselves to sleep in tents with their counselors. At breakfast, several campers reported: “I only slept three hours…but it was awesome!!” This is the stuff memories are made of, and it’s why we love what we do!

We just finished up a fantastic – dare we say super – Friday Special Event. As you know, campers and counselors were invited to wear Superhero costumes for this week’s extravaganza, and they really showed up in full force! Even this afternoon’s rain couldn’t damper their spirits; jumping through puddles and dancing through rain drops, they helped over twenty superheros (counselors hidden around the property) find Spirit Woman, who had gone missing. After a huge dance party and lots of tribe songs and cheers, Spirit Woman finally showed up and joined her sidekick, Rally Girl. What a blast!

Whether your campers are with us for two weeks, eight weeks, or any weeks in between, they are a part of the Camp Sewataro family. For those campers leaving today, we wish you a wonderful rest of your summer, and hope we’ll see you back here next year. (Enrollment opens in August, FYI – stay tuned for more info.) And for those campers continuing with us, get psyched for week three…the fun continues!

Warmly,
The Taylor Family and all your friends at Sewataro
