Welcome to you all as we move toward the start of another wonderful camp season. Much has been happening here at camp since we waved good-bye to our campers last August.

We love to share all the happenings in the lives of our camp family. So we begin with the news that our beloved Emmy is expecting a baby!! Yes, a future Ponca is on his way with an estimated arrival date of June 11th. For those of you checking the date; indeed, this does mean that Emmy will not be with us this summer. She will be returning to us in September, ready to begin preparation for the summer of 2018.

We knew we had to come up with some serious contingency plans for covering Emmy’s absence this summer. After all, she is the glue that holds us all together!

We are lucky to have a deep reserve of talented people to draw upon in times of need. Which brings us to the staffing changes we have made:

2017 Office Staff

amy

Amy Podolsky will be transitioning to a new role as Office Supervisor. Amy will be overseeing the many responsibilities that are carried out in the front office. Her years as a section supervisor and as a camper parent will bring a tremendous amount of expertise to the office, as she manages the flow of people and paperwork that travel through the office every day. We will miss her as the Fox section supervisor, but we are thankful to have her with us in this new role. She has been training with Emmy for several months, as we plan for a smooth transition this summer.

Jeannine Lawless

Jeannine Lawless will be taking on the role of Communications Head and has already set up shop in the back office. Jeannine will oversee all the pieces of communication that are transmitted back and forth each summer. With a newsletter writer, photographer, videographer and fishing photographer all making for a large communications staff, Jeannine will be busy! We will rely on Jeannine’s expertise, efficiency and attention to detail. Jeannine worked in the camp office alongside her mother during her high school years. We recognized her talent back then and have loved having her back with us and hope she will be with us for many years to come!

Izzy McKean

Izzy McKean is our new Transportation Coordinator. Izzy is already working in the camp office, learning the CampMinder travel system and tweaking the bus routes for this coming summer. She is already assigning PD numbers to our Parent Drivers. She will be the central contact for bus monitors. Izzy also has a long and varied history with Sewataro. She worked as an Office Assistant during her high school years, then as a Tribe Assistant. She came back after teaching in Arkansas to lead our Nature activity during the summer of 2015. She was in Malaysia last year teaching English under a Fulbright grant. She will be attending MIT Sloan School of Management in the fall. We consider ourselves lucky to have Izzy with us now throughout the coming summer!

We also welcome Robyn Vetstein back for her eighth summer in the office. Gail Nozik and Jen O’Keefe also return as our camp nurses.

We are all looking forward to seeing you soon and welcoming your children for another summer!
